GearUp Robotics Project: Five Kits. Many Students. Endless Impact.
We are a student team participating in FIRST LEGO League (FLL), and we are passionate about bringing robotics and coding to more kids in our community.
In Spring 2026, we partnered with a local community library to launch a small robotics program. Our team members became “student instructors,” teaching younger students how to build and program using LEGO SPIKE Prime.
The results were incredible:
• Younger students were highly engaged learning from older kids
• Team members developed confidence, leadership, and communication skills
• Families discovered a fun and approachable way to explore STEM together
However, we quickly ran into one major challenge:
Each student needed their own robotics kit (about $440), limiting participation to only 6 students.
Our Goal
We are raising $2,000 to purchase 5 shared LEGO SPIKE Prime kits, allowing more students to participate without the cost of buying their own equipment.
What This Makes Possible
With shared kits, we can:
• Run small-group, hands-on robotics classes
• Teach 5 students per session
• Reach up to 35 students across 7 sessions
That means nearly 6x more impact with the same teaching effort.
Why This Matters
LEGO SPIKE Prime will be discontinued in 2026 as FIRST LEGO League transitions to new systems. This creates a unique opportunity to help more students access robotics now, before costs and barriers increase further.
Community Impact
Your support helps:
• Lower barriers to STEM education
• Empower kids to become creators, not just consumers
• Build a “kids teaching kids” learning culture
• Develop young leaders through mentorship and teaching
How Your Donation Helps
Every dollar goes directly toward:
• Purchasing shared robotics kits
• Replacing and maintaining parts
• Supporting hands-on learning materials
These kits will continue serving many future students in our community.
Join Us
This project is not just about robots.
It’s about giving more kids the chance to explore, create, and believe:
“I can do this.”
Thank you for helping make that possible.
