“If I can do Shakespeare, I can do anything!"
The Young Shakespeareans (TYS) is a nonprofit delivering transformative, tuition-free after-school programs that fuse rigorous academics with the performing, visual, and technical arts for thousands of historically underserved youth across Los Angeles City and County each year.
According to the LA County Office of Education, TYS is currently the only organization reliably producing on-site, after-school theater programs that culminate in full-scale student performances, presented free-of-charge to classmates, families, and the surrounding community. Each year, more than 5,000 students and audience members witness the brilliance and creativity of 4th through 12th graders as they bring their stories to life through the lens of Shakespeare, often in their first time ever on stage.
