To Establish STEAMshala to Improve the Learning Levels of Underserved studying in Govt school/Aided in Bangalore
op Samarthanam Trust for the DisabledSamarthanam Trust for the Disabled, as coined STEAM approach as STEAMshala, to enhance the quality learning outcomes for the students with disabilities and non-disabled students from the underprivileged communities. The STEAMshala adapts a methodology for understanding “STEM Concepts” through a fun learning methods for the benefit of underserved communities. In otherwords, it’s a methodology for students for stimulating imagination, understanding concepts through “Do It Yourself (DIY)”, “Hands on Experience”, Quiz, Painting etc., with help of technology tools and by trained teachers. This fosters participatory learning among the students to improve their learning curve and promote inclusion in the long run.
The project has three components : -
(i) Upgradation of classroom with STEAM’s tools and exhibits.
(ii) Capacity Building for Teachers.
(iii) Implementing STEAM’s Methodology and integration into curriculum
The project will be covered in 1 government/aided school covering students (1 to 5th std) in Bangalore location in Karnataka. The timeline of the project is 1 year.
IV. Objectives
To improve on quality of learning of STEM subjects among the underserved by adapting STEAM focusing on ART infused pedagogy/methodology.
To capacitate the teachers in STEAM methodology through capacity building training programme and integrating into curriculum.
