About STEM ResearcHER
Established in 2020, STEM ResearcHER is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to closing the gender and accessibility gap in STEM through free educational programs, speaker workshops, and mentorship initiatives. The organization is led by 10 high school girls of color who have overcome discouragement in STEM and now dedicate their skills to empowering future generations of girls.
Each year, we host two STEMstravaganzas—community events featuring interactive science activities, inspiring speakers, and networking opportunities—at local libraries in Santa Clara, California, and Chicago, Illinois. In 2023, surveys revealed that 25% of attendees reported increased confidence in pursuing STEM careers after participating.
Our impact extends nationally and globally. Through virtual summer and winter boot camps focused on specific STEM disciplines, we engage approximately 280 girls annually across the United States. Internationally, our reach spans 8+ countries through weekly Zoom lessons. A significant part of our efforts is in Pakistan, where we collaborate with the Kiran Foundation and an HDF school in Karachi to provide STEM education to underserved students multiple times a week.
How Your Support Helps
Funding is critical to supporting:
STEMstravaganza Events ($1,700 per event): Funds support supplies, activities, and speakers for these impactful local events, designed to inspire and connect girls in STEM.
Technology for Pakistani Schools ($1,000): This initiative will provide three computers for each of the three classrooms, collectively serving over 100 girls. These computers will grant access to coding lessons, digital resources, and research materials, enhancing educational opportunities.
Operating Expenses ($1,000): Essential tools like Zoom, Canva, Eventbrite, and Beehiv enable us to organize events, reach our 3,000+ Instagram followers, and communicate via local school newsletters.
