WCK Supporting California Residents Impacted by Toxic Chemical Leak (May 2026)
oleh WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN INCORPORATEDWorld Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is in Garden Grove, California to provide meals needed amid a hazardous materials emergency at the GKN Aerospace facility. This remains a quickly evolving situation
A damaged tank holding 7,000 gallons of methyl methacrylate—a highly flammable and toxic industrial chemical—remains unstable and at risk of exploding. Approximately 40,000 residents are under evacuation orders or warnings across a three-square-mile zone. Schools are closed, eight evacuation centers are active, and authorities are working to stabilize the tank as conditions remain dangerous and unresolved. Displaced community members face health concerns, economic disruption, and an uncertain timeline for returning home.
WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines with the urgency of now to start cooking and provide meals to people in need.
By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of food trucks or emergency kitchens, WCK provides freshly made, nutritious meals to communities impacted by disasters quickly and effectively. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.
With over 500 million meals served globally, WCK continues to bring relief, one plate at a time. Your donation today fuels this mission—helping us reach more people, faster, when they need it most.
