Guangzhou Aixiaoya Public Welfare Development Center is a nonprofit organization registered with the Guangzhou Civil Affairs Bureau on August 9, 2022, and incubated by the Aixiaoya Public Welfare Fund of China Social Welfare Foundation.
In 2013, a group of volunteers, including Zhang Ruwei and Chen Ning, visited Liangshan, Sichuan, and witnessed the severe lack of self-protection and menstrual hygiene awareness among school-age girls in rural areas. They jointly initiated the "Aixiaoya Public Welfare Fund."
For nearly 11 years, Aixiaoya Public Welfare Fund has focused on supporting girls and young women in underdeveloped regions, addressing social issues affecting women. It has developed a series of innovative female-focused projects, improved the project management system and gained consistent support of media, businesses, and celebrities. It has explored effective ways to empower girls and young women in health, protection, education, and development. Aixiaoya’s key projects include the "Girls Empowerment Program," "Girls Support Program," "Emergency Care Hygiene Boxes for Women," and the "Girls Future Empowerment Program." As of the first half of 2024, these initiatives have benefited over 360,000 girls in rural areas, with total funding nearing 100 million yuan.
Aixiaoya Public Welfare Fund has received numerous accolades, including being named one of the "Top Ten Public Welfare Projects" by Phoenix Online's 2020 Action Alliance, recommended as a 2021 annual case for internet philanthropy-Vigor Charity, and awarded the Excellent Case Award at the Charity Gala in both 2022 and 2023. It has also received extensive coverage from mainstream media outlets such as People's Daily, Southern Weekend, China Social News, Public Welfare Times, and Xinhua News, as well as long-term recommendations as a quality project from top internet platforms like Tencent, Weibo, ByteDance, Alipay, Bilibili, and Meituan.
