An online educational digital game to introduce K5-12 learners to integrated circuit microchips and semiconductor sustainability.
Prof. L.C. Kimerling’s VR simulation team proposes to develop IC Chip Builder, a digital game that guides learners to build an integrated circuit (IC) “city,” comprised of function-specific computing and memory neighborhoods; and discover through game-based learning challenges how an IC chip’s micron-scale architecture influences its computing FLOPs and I/O data rate. IC Chip Builder will strive to make the computer chip more intelligible to elementary-, middle-, high-school learners with a project based learning interactive methodology.
