Zwei starke Erdbeben haben am 25.06.2026 Venezuela erschüttert. Auch die Hauptstadt Caracas ist betroffen. Die Regierung hat den nationalen Notstand ausgerufen und Rettungs- und Bergungsmaßnahmen gestartet. Die US-Geologiebehörde befürchtet Tausende Tote.

Durch die starken Erdstöße wurde die ganze Küstenregion erschüttert. Gebäude in der Hauptstadt Caracas wurden zum Einsturz gebracht. Die US-Geologiebehörde USGS gab die Stärke des ersten Bebens mit 7,2 an, die des zweiten mit 7,5.

Bislang konnten hunderte Tote geborgen werden, mehrere Tausend Menschen wurden verletzt. Die Such- und Rettungsmaßnahmen gehen unter Hochdruck weiter.

Unsere Mitgliedsorganisationen wie Misereor sind durch ihre lokalen Partnerorganisationen in der Lage, direkt vor Ort erste Hilfsmaßnahmen durchzuführen und Betroffene zu versorgen.

Two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on June 25, 2026, affecting the capital, Caracas, as well. The government has declared a national state of emergency and launched rescue and recovery operations. The US Geological Survey fears a death toll in the thousands.

The powerful tremors shook the entire coastal region, causing buildings in the capital, Caracas, to collapse. The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported the magnitude of the first quake as 7.2 and the second as 7.5.

So far, the bodies of hundreds of victims have been recovered, and several thousand people have been injured. Search and rescue operations are continuing at full speed.

Through their local partner organizations, our member organizations—such as Misereor—are able to carry out initial relief measures directly on the ground and provide aid to those affected.
