BAY AREA URBAN DEBATE COMMISSION

The mission of the Bay Area Urban Debate League is to make competitive debate education available to under-resourced Bay Area public schools. We ensure that all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential as engaged learners, critical thinkers, and capable civic advocates.

BAUDL serves over 300 students at 15 schools across seven Bay Area districts. Nearly 80% of BAUDL students are students of color and 100% of them hail from under-resourced public schools. Many aspire to careers in law, public policy, and advocacy.

We partner with schools that would not otherwise have access to competitive debate programs, and raise funds to ensure our students can attend national debate camps and tournaments, which are historically not accessible to students in under-resourced schools.
·BAUDL develops the analytical, research, advocacy, and public-speaking skills that law -firms value most.

Urban Debaters have a HS graduation rate of nearly 100%, and four-year college matriculation rates around 80%.
