Spectre Robotics Team 8753 was founded in 2021 at SPHS to accommodate a growing interest in competitive robotics among a diverse group of students to prepare and compete in FIRST Robotics Competition.
FIRST encourages students' participation in technology-related activities, especially in leadership positions and as innovators. The programs prepare participants for college and the workforce, develop critical thinking and leadership skills, and support students' academic endeavors.
FIRST programs emphasize Gracious Professionalism and Cooperition, which help bring out the best in students while they compete without compromising sportsmanship or respect for others.
FIRST is open to high-school age students from all over the world. Students compete in teams of 20+ to design and build a robot up to 120 pounds for competition with only 6 weeks to design, build and test.
Spectre's goal is to foster student and community interest in technology through competition and mentorship while developing career skills necessary for successful STEAM careers.
